# Write the scene and narration

> A video is written in two fields on the New video screen, "What should happen?" and "Narration". "Suggest a video" drafts both. Editing is free until you draw the frame; a finished video's text is locked.

## How do I generate a script?

There is no separate script step. The scene is the text in two fields on the New video screen: "What should happen?" (the action and the setting) and "Narration — the spoken text" (an optional voice-over). Write them yourself, or let GetReelCom draft them.

1. On the New video screen, pick your cast, then click "Suggest a video". GetReelCom writes a name, a scene and a narration line for you. "Suggest another" gives a different draft.
2. Or write your own scene in "What should happen?" and, optionally, a narration line.
3. Click "Save & draw the frame" when the text is right.

Writing or requesting a suggestion is free. Credits are spent when you draw the frame from the text.

## Which information does GetReelCom use to generate the script?

The selected characters' names, roles, descriptions and Always and Never rules; the selected audience's problem, wants and language style; the selected product's benefits and features; the selected or described venue; and your own text.

## How long is a generated script?

Narration is short by design: about 25 words fit the ten-second video. Leave it empty for a video without speech. The "What should happen?" description can be a full paragraph.

## How are characters, venues, products, and services included in the script?

You name them in "What should happen?", and GetReelCom brings in their saved details, the avatar, the venue photo, the product's look, when it draws the frame and the video.

## Can I edit the generated script?

Yes, freely, until you draw the frame. Rewrite the name, the scene or the narration as often as you like. After the video is finished, that video's text is a read-only record under "What this was built from": videos are generated once, and to change any of this you create a new video.

## Can I add my own text to the script?

Yes. Both fields are plain text boxes. Use "Suggest a video" as a starting point or ignore it.

## Can I remove or rewrite parts of the script?

Yes, for a video whose frame you have not approved yet: change the text and draw the frame again. On the video page you can also type what should be different under "Or change something" and click "Redraw the frame". Each redraw costs 1 credit.

## Can I change the tone of voice of the script?

Indirectly. The tone comes from your own wording, from the selected audience's Language style field, and from the characters' Always and Never rules. Edit those and the next draft follows.

## Can I generate the script again?

Click "Suggest another" on the New video screen for a fresh draft, free. Once a frame exists, rewriting and redrawing is the way to a new take, at 1 credit per frame.

## What should I check before approving the script?

That the scene shows the right characters, venue and product; that every factual claim is correct; that the narration fits in ten seconds (about 25 words); and that the tone sounds like your brand.

## Can a script contain information that is not correct?

Yes. GetReelCom does not fact-check what you or its suggestion writes. You are responsible for reviewing output before you publish it, and the [Terms of Service](/terms/) say so explicitly.

## How do I prevent the script from being too generic?

Name the real product, the real setting and one specific action in "What should happen?", instead of a summary of what your company does. Keep your Characters, Audience and Products detailed: the writing leans on that saved detail.

## How do I prevent the script from sounding too sales-focused?

Describe a moment or a benefit in natural language rather than a slogan, and write the audience's Language style field the way that audience actually talks.

## Can I create multiple scripts for the same company?

Yes. Every video has its own text, and a project's Videos list holds as many as you make. Each finished video costs 11 credits.

## What does approving the script mean?

There is no separate approval of the text. Approval happens one step later, when you look at the preview frame drawn from it and click "Looks good, make the video". See [The preview frame](/help/videos/the-preview-frame/).

## Can I return to the script after approving it?

Once the video is generated, its text is read-only on the video page. You can read it, or start a new video from it.
