Target audiences
An audience is a saved profile of who your videos speak to, their role, organisation, problem, wants, objections and language style. Save one primary audience and any number of secondary ones.
What is a target audience?
In GetReelCom, a target audience is a saved profile of the customer your videos should speak to: their job title, the kind of organisation they work in, their problem, what they want, their objections, why they buy, how much they already know and how they talk.
How do I add my ideal customer?
- Open the project and click Audience in the left sidebar.
- Click the primary audience card, or Add another audience, to open the form.
- Fill in Audience (one line: the role at the kind of company you sell to), Job title, Type of organisation, Company size, Sector, In short, Their problem, What they want, Objections, Buying motives, Knowledge level and Language style.
Saving an audience does not use credits.
Can I add multiple target audiences?
Yes. There is one primary audience plus any number of secondary ones, added with Add another audience.
Can I create different videos for different target audiences?
Yes. When a project has more than one audience saved, the New video screen shows a Who is it for? picker. Choose the audience for that video; if you do not, it speaks to the primary audience. With only one audience saved, the picker does not appear.
How specific should my target audience be?
As specific as a real buyer: “Marketing Manager at a B2B software company” rather than “businesses”. The Problem, Wants, Objections and Language style fields are where the specificity pays off, because the scene and narration are written from them.
Can I distinguish between internal and external audiences?
There is no “internal” or “external” label. Model an internal audience, such as your own team for an onboarding video, either as an audience profile or as a Team member character, whichever fits the video you are making.
How does the target audience affect the script?
The scene and narration are written to the selected audience’s problem, wants, objections, buying motives and language style. Unless you pick another audience on the New video screen, they are written to the primary audience.
How does the target audience affect the characters in the video?
An audience can appear on screen as a character. When you add a character, set Who is this? to Audience persona and it carries the same kind of role, pain points and goals as a saved audience. See Characters.
