How to turn your company website into a video

To turn a website into a video, paste its address into a tool that reads the pages and drafts a script and visuals. The result differs per tool: stock footage, an avatar presenter, or animated scenes of your own company.

What website-to-video tools produce

Every URL-to-video tool reads a page and returns a video, but the videos differ. The main difference is what ends up on screen.

Tool Reads What is on screen
InVideo One link, such as an article or product page Clips from a stock library, with voice-over, subtitles and music
Synthesia One public page of up to 4,500 words An avatar presenter who presents the page’s content
HeyGen One page, such as a blog post or landing page An avatar presenter with stock visuals, subtitles and music
Creatify One product page A video ad with an avatar spokesperson
Pictory A homepage, product page or blog post Generated visuals, avatars, captions and an AI voice
GetReelCom A company website, starting from the homepage Animated scenes with your own characters, venue, product and colours

The rows above come from each vendor’s own page, listed under Sources. Most tools turn one page into a summary video. GetReelCom reads the company behind the site and keeps what it learned for every later video.

Choose by the job. A summary of a blog post suits the stock and presenter tools. A video about your company, with your people and brand, needs a tool that reads the whole site.

What a good result looks like

A good website-to-video result passes four checks.

  • The facts are yours. The video says what your site says, with no invented claim.
  • The look is yours. The colours, the people and the setting match your company, not a template.
  • The people and places are recognisable. Viewers see your colleagues and your premises, or a fair version of them.
  • You approved it before it rendered. A tool that goes from URL to finished video in one step leaves no room for correction.

What gets read and what gets invented

A website reader extracts facts and fills the gaps with drafts. You should know which is which.

Read from the site. GetReelCom extracts what your company does and for whom. It also reads your brand colours, logo, products and services, audiences and locations. People named on the site become characters, with their photo where one is shown.

Used in the picture. Not everything that is read is drawn. Scenes use your colours, your characters’ avatars, your venue and your written descriptions. Scenes contain no text or logos, so the logo is saved but not drawn.

Drafted or invented. Customer personas are invented from the audience your site addresses. When the site names nobody, one brand representative is invented. Avatars are drawn for up to three team members found with a photo.

Never read. Pages behind a login are not visited. Only public pages are read, starting from the address you enter.

The result is a first draft, not a verified profile. A thin site, or one with an unusual structure, gives a thinner draft. The details are in What GetReelCom reads from your website.

How to do it, step by step

  1. Enter your company’s main address on getreelcom.com and click Create your free company video. Reading starts at once and takes about half a minute.
  2. Sign in with Google or Microsoft while the site is being read.
  3. Review your Director’s Guide: the Brand, Products, Audience, Characters and Venues tabs. The Overview page lists what to check.
  4. Correct what is wrong and add what is missing. Text edits are free and save as you type.
  5. Click New video, choose one or two characters and a format, and click Suggest a video. Edit the draft.
  6. Click Save & draw the frame for 1 credit. Redraw until the still is right.
  7. Click Looks good, make the video for 10 credits. The ten-second scene is ready in about a minute.
  8. Repeat for two more scenes to make a 30-second company video, then download the MP4 files.

The full walk-through is in Create your first video.

A worked example

The closing scene of a 30-second company video whose Director's Guide was read from triagen.ai.

The clip above closes a company video for Triagen, a return-to-work software company. The input was one address, triagen.ai.

The Director’s Guide drafted from that site held a story in four parts. The problem is an employee who is off sick and unsure of the next step. The solution is guidance through the return-to-work process. The product is the software, with Tri as the guide. The result is a clear path back to work.

The video tells that story in three ten-second scenes with one cast throughout. All three scenes, and the business case behind them, are on the examples page.

Which address works best

Enter the homepage of the site in the language you want your videos in. GetReelCom follows links from there to the pages about your product and your team. It sets one language for the project, and narration is written in it.

Some sites give a thin draft. That happens on a site with little text, a team page without names, or product pages behind a login. In those cases you add the missing parts by hand. Guidance is in Which website address to enter.

Cost and time

Reading your website costs nothing, and neither does editing the Director’s Guide. The avatars drawn during the import cost 1 credit each, for up to three team members.

A 30-second company video costs 33 credits: three scenes of 11 credits. A new account has 40 free credits and needs no card. After the free credits, the same video costs about €15 on Starter and about €12 on Studio.

The reading takes about half a minute. A frame takes about 30 seconds and a scene about a minute. Your review of the five tabs is the longest step, and it is done once per company.

Common mistakes

  • Skipping the review. Every video is written from what is saved. A wrong product description becomes a wrong video.
  • Entering a deep link. A blog post tells the reader little about your company. Start from the homepage.
  • Expecting footage of your site. The video is not a screen recording. It is a scene about your company.
  • Leaving photos out. Without a Photo URL, people and places are invented from text. Add direct image links for the colleagues and locations that matter.
  • Re-reading to fix an error. A second read only fills empty fields, so your edits stay. Correct the field by hand instead.

Frequently asked questions

Which URL should I use to make a video from my website?

Use your company’s homepage, such as https://www.yourcompany.com. GetReelCom starts there and visits a handful of public pages about your product, team and locations. For a multilingual site, enter the address of the language you want the videos in.

Can AI make a video from any website?

From any public website, yes, but the quality follows the content. A site that states what you do, for whom, and who works there gives a full draft. Pages behind a login are never read. A thin site still works, and you add the rest by hand.

Does the video use the images on my website?

Some of them, as references and never as footage. Team photos become avatars, and a photo of a location becomes a stylised venue. Your colours set the palette. Products are drawn from their written description, and logos are not drawn at all. For a person or place the import missed, you paste a direct image link yourself.

Can I correct what the tool read from my website?

Yes. In GetReelCom every field in the Director’s Guide is a normal text field that you can edit, replace or extend. Your corrections are safe: a later re-read only fills fields that are still empty.

Is it free to turn a website into a video?

The first video is. Reading the site and editing the draft cost nothing, and a new GetReelCom account has 40 credits with no card. That covers one 30-second company video. Free videos carry a GetReelCom watermark, which a paid plan removes.
